From the Potomac Avenue Metro (Walking)

• Take the Orange or Blue line to Potomac Avenue Metro
• As you exit the metro on the escalators, you will see Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
• Keep walking straight, crossing over Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. to Potomac Ave, SE
• At 13th Street SE, walk down I Street SE
• Take a right into the first parking lot.
• We are on the first floor at 1212 I Street, SE.

From the Eastern Market Metro (Walking)

• Take the Orange or Blue line to Eastern Market
• As you exit the metro on the escalators, you will see Pennsylvania Avenue, SE to your left.
• Keep walking straight, heading East, on Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
• At 12th Street SE, turn right (there's an Exxon.
• Walk 2 blocks to I Street, SE and turn left.
• Take a left into the first parking lot.
• There's a doorway on the left (go through the guard booth and into the outside courtyard).
• After you enter the courtyard, head right.
• Look for 1212 address.
• We are on the first floor at 1212 I Street, SE.

Driving from Silver Spring/College Park Maryland (I95/495)

• Take 495 East/95 South toward PG county.
• Take 495 east until Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
• Take the exit to Washington (South).
• Follow signs to 295 South (Do not take route 50!).
• Take the exit to E. Capitol Street.
• Go around RFK stadium, stay to the right.
• Turn left onto 14th St.
• Pass Safeway on the right.
• At E street take right.
• At 13th Street take a left.
• Cross Pennsylvania Ave SE (there's a traffic light).
• At the next light after crossing Penn Ave, take a right onto I Street.
• Take a right into the first parking lot on the right (between 13th and 12th Street, SE).
• There's a doorway on the left (go through the guard booth and into the outside courtyard).
• After you enter the courtyard, head right.
• Look for 1212 address.
• We are on the first floor at 1212 I Street, SE.

Driving from Maryland (I270)

• Take 270 South
• Take 495 West toward Northern Virginia
• Take G-W Parkway East (this goes toward Reagan National Airport)
• Take the 2nd exit for 395 North
• Cross the 14th street bridge and stay on the middle right lane
• The road forks, stay to the right (follow signs for 295 not route 1)
• Continue to follow signs for 295
• Take next exit for 6th street SE/ Navy Yard (right hand exit)
• At the 2nd light, take a left (7th Street SE)
• At the 2nd light again, take a right onto Pennsylvania Avenue, SE (there's a CVS store)
• At 13th Street SE, take a right
• At the next light, take a sharp right onto I Street, SE
• Take a right into the first parking lot on the right (between 13th and 12th Street, SE).
• There's a doorway on the left (go through the guard booth and into the outside courtyard).
• After you enter the courtyard, head right.
• Look for 1212 address.
• We are on the first floor at 1212 I Street, SE.

Driving from Virginia on I-395

• From 395 North, cross the 14th Street Bridge and stay in the middle right lane.
• Stay in the middle, right lane after crossing 14th Street bridge.
• At the fork, go right and take 395 North toward Capitol Hill .
• After the fork, get into the second lane from the left
• Keep going straight and exit at the 6th st SE exit (on the right).
• This is the exit immediately after the So Capitol St exit.
• At the 2nd light, take a left (7th Street, SE).
• At the 2nd light again, take a right onto Pennsylvania Avenue, SE (there's a CVS store)
• At 13th Street SE, take a right
• At the next light, take a sharp right onto I Street, SE
• Take a right into the first parking lot on the right (between 13th and 12th Street, SE).

Volunteer Requirements

For NEW volunteers:

1. Completed Little Lights Volunteer Application
2. Attendance to one LL New Volunteer Orientation.
3. Attendance to all necessary program-specific trainings
4. Up-to-date negative TB record
   (suggested TB sites)
5. *Outside Program Time agreement
6. *2012-2013 Confidentiality Agreement
   (for Reading and Math Hero Tutors only!)
7. *Background check (after your application is submitted you will receive an email from Christianbackgroundchecks.com asking you fill out their online form. The cost is $10.00. Once you fill out the form the search results will be sent directly to the Volunteer Coordinator. Your information is kept confidential. Having a background check is something we are legally required to do for all our volunteers and staff.)
