Teen Internship Training: Anger Responsibility
Thanks to the Department of Mental Health for providing a free workshop on Anger Responsibility for our teens!! Dr. George Young shared the importance of knowing your feelings and knowing how to communicate them in a healthy way. He particularly focused on the phrase ‘anger responsibility’ over the common phrase ‘anger management’ to encourage our teens that anger is something that is natural and acceptable. It is not something to be managed and cured, but rather to be acted upon responsibly. Our teens analyzed what their anger triggers were and assessed what they can do in these situations to act in a professional and responsible manner. It was great to see our interns challenged to really think about what makes them angry and to become more in touch with their feelings and their needs. After the workshop, many of the teens expressed how much they appreciated the practical suggestions that were given. We thank the Department of Mental Health and look forward to them returning to provide workshops on other topics in the future.
