Closing Ceremony!

Posted by Little Lights Urban Ministries at 02:10 PM

On June 7th, we had the rewarding experience of celebrating the end of the school year at Potomac Gardens with our students at our annual Closing Ceremony. Staff and volunteers had fun playing with the kids on the playground, and afterwards, everyone enjoyed a meal of hotdogs, potato chips and apple juice provided by Capitol Area Food Bank. Mr. Jason started off the program as our MC, followed by a dance performance, a poetry reciting by Beverly Walker, a cheer leading routine by DC Thunder, and a Little Lights Choir performance. Program Coordinators rewarded students for all their hard work with personalized certificates of achievement that highlighted their skills or character. The students shook hands with community and Little Lights leaders as they received their awards. To conclude the day, Reann Hines from the T.C. Wallace Foundation provided words of wisdom to the children and handed out brand new toys to all the elementary students. We want to thank all the generous volunteers, staff, family members, supporters and the T.C. Wallace Foundation for making this event so memorable!
