The legendary Howard Theatre, a room full of generous supporters, and an inspiring program made for a hugely successful Little Lights Benefit!
This year more than 300 guests attended the black-tie affair and enjoyed a cocktail hour, a live auction, a rousing performance from the Little Lights Choir, and the premiere of our new video: “Leaving a Mark.”
The Benefit also included Q & A segments that highlighted two of Little Lights programs – our landscaping enterprise, the Clean Green Team, and Homework Club, an afterschool program that is now being offered at our newest site, the Hilltop Center.
Clean Green Team co-managers Antonio and Henry discussed with the audience how they’ve grown in leadership by learning the business side of landscaping and acquiring the maintenance skills that beautify their community. And Jacquan, Daquan, and Zaquan, siblings who attend programs at the Hilltop Center, stole the show when they each shared how they look forward to coming to Little Lights because it makes them feel safe and they get needed help with their homework.
At the end of the evening our generous community of supporters jumped at the opportunity to get behind our work and helped us raise more than $150,000 – making it our most successful Benefit to date! That funding directly enables Little Lights’ growing and advancing work with under-resourced communities in Washington, DC.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this Little Lights Benefit a memorable success.
