In addition to raising $179,000 from donors, Little Lights was recognized by United Way of the National Capital Area (UWNCA) as the $10,000 grand prize winner and top earner of $21,000 in bonus prizes during the UWNCA’s annual giving competition, Do More 24.
The highly anticipated competition began on May 17th at 12pm and ended on May 18th at 12pm, allowing over 350 donors to come together to help Little Lights bring home a grand total of more than $200,000 in donations and prize money.
This marks the 4th year in a row Little Lights has won the 1st place grand prize while competing against 600+ nonprofits in the DC metro area during the 24-hour fundraising event.
Because of our generous supporters who gave, Little Lights set a new record for the most amount raised during a Do More 24 competition!
Little Lights’ big win came just weeks before our summer programs are slated to begin. Little Lights and its surrounding community are eager to see those funds continue providing year-round, educational enrichment and family resource programs for residents of public housing at its six locations throughout Capitol Hill and Anacostia, including Little Lights’ newest site focusing on service to Benning Terrace public housing residents.
A big thanks to all those who helped Little Lights come out on top during this year’s Do More 24 competition!
