Becoming an Intercessory Prayer Partner

As you know, there are a lot of children at Potomac Gardens and all of them need prayer and attention and love. We obviously want to reach as many as we can at the deepest level we can. I still believe that prayer is the most vital element to reaching the kids. I know that on Saturday mornings we pray generally for the kids, but I'd like for you to consider becoming a intercessory prayer partner for one child or family at Potomac Gardens. It may be that you have more than one in mind to pray for which is great. As you pray, God may lay it on your heart which child or children you ought to focus on. As you pray for that child, it would be great if you take the time to get to know the child to know what to pray for better and act on their behalf if necessary. We can keep each other accountable as to prayer and what if any changes are taking place (for better or for seeming worse) in the child's life. There are definitely challenges going on in the children's lives that they need support on. More than one child recently has mentioned to me how much they are hurting because of missing their dads. If you could make a commitment to (get to know) and pray for a child (even if you don't know which child yet) then that would be great. I think we need to not just pray in general for kids but to find out what's going on in a child's life so that we can pray more effectively. So, I have to tell you that if we want to make a difference in a child's life it's going to take commitment on our part. But the fruit will surely be worth it even if we help only one child.

Perhaps, you would be interested in being the administrator for this in keeping up to date who is praying for who and so on. In any case, if we are truly wanting to make a difference in the lives of the children, we have to get more serious about attacking the problems that they face through prayer. These kids are suffering from various problems and they need our attention and I believe it should begin with prayer.

For now, I'm only approaching those who are familiar with the children already and not opening up to a wider group of people. I see kids slipping through the cracks and stuck in a lot of bondage and things are not changing so I believe we have to redouble our efforts and renew our commitments to helping the kids know the love of Jesus.

I do not have any extra administrative energy left so I need you to take some personal initiative to meet kids and get to know them so that you can find a child to pray for. But these kids are hurting and rebelling for the lack of love. We can do something about that.

If you cannot commit to praying for a child then please don't feel pressured into an obligation. It may not be what your called to do. If you feel called to do something else for the benefit of the children, let me know. We need everyone to use their different gifts to help the kids.

In Him,
Steve
