Homework Club occurs Monday through Thursday, from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, and meets a continual, urgent need: helping students understand and complete their daily homework assignments.
Students rotate through two stations, an academic station where they work with the help of tutors to finish their homework, and a “chill” station where they play games and receive a full, balanced meal provided by the Capital Area Food Bank.
With a student to tutor ratio between 3:1 and 1:1, Homework Club tutors provide students with the individual assistance they often do not receive at school.
Homework Club makes a difference.
In 2013, according to report cards, 82% of the students who participated in Homework Club met school requirements to turn in daily homework assignments.
Helping students stay on track with their homework ensures that their knowledge builds throughout the school year, making it more likely that they will move on to the next grade.
