It’s National Mentoring Month! Little Lights recently became a recognized partner with MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and has since joined in to celebrate the past 15 years of National Mentoring Month, a national campaign that advocates the importance of quality mentoring programs and works to recruit volunteer mentors.
Now our Mentoring Program is directly accessible on MENTOR’s Mentoring Connector volunteer database where thousands of prospective mentors across the country can search for mentoring opportunities.
As the celebration of mentorship continues throughout the month, today marks #ThankYourMentor Day! So we’ve gathered a few students in our Mentoring Program to express what having a mentor means to them.
Here’s what a few of our students had to say:
“My mentor teaches me not to take things for granted. By coming to Little Lights he says I’ll get the help I need with my homework and in life.” – Jerry, 12
“You are funny, nice and cool. Thanks for being my mentor!” – Javon, 12
“I really like that I can tell her anything. She’s nice, trustworthy and reliable. Thank you for being my mentor and for being in my life.” – Ja’Shaun, 11
“I’ve learned a lot from the time we’ve been together. You are the best mentor ever.” – Markeith, 15
At Little Lights, mentors are committed to making a difference in our students lives through spending quality time and modeling what it means to love and follow Jesus. And for that we’re incredibly thankful for them.
