Camp Heaven

Camp Heaven is Little Lights' annual summer camp that serves over a hundred youth from Washington, DC. The children enjoy Bible study, academics, arts & crafts, sports, and field trips. We are in need of summer missionaries who can help make the 2008 Camp Heaven a enriching experience.

Summer missionaries live in community in the inner city to pray, break bread, and serve at-risk children through Little Lights day camp, Camp Heaven. Each weekday, missionaries pray together, prepare for the day of ministry, and lead camps for children ages 5-14. We also provide training and spiritual feeding on issues ranging from Jesus's compassion for those in need to racial reconciliation to God's heart for justice. Camp Heaven 2008 Brochure

Opportunities for Individuals
Each year we need dedicated camp counselors to lead groups of kids and youth in recreational activities, Bible studies, and academic programs. Camp counselors are asked to raise their own support ($150/wk, $1200 full summer) and can live in our Ministry House in Anacostia.

Opportunities for Groups
We have an exciting youth/college group summer mission opportunity at Little Lights Urban Ministries. Your youth/college group can come for a week during our summer camp to work with kids ages 5-14. We only allow one group to come for a week and students get to experience working with kids in the areas of art/sports/bible study. (weekly fee of $300/group). Housing in DC is also available for groups.

"To describe my Camp Heaven experience, all it really takes is one word: special... Coming to Little Lights, I had not worked with kids much in the past; yet, God enabled me to do things I never thought I could do. Leading a Bible study...preaching...even leading games for the kids seemed like an overwhelming task. Yet, God was at work in me, giving me the strength to accomplish the task and the confidence that He was with me through those things."
