Mentoring

A Mentor with the Little Lights Urban Ministries is a caring, responsible, adult volunteer who serves as a trusted friend and guide to a student in Little Lights. He or she helps to ensure that the student senses care and support, learns life skills and lessons, and is exposed to new opportunities and a wide array of resources. Mentors will help the student make positive life choices, stays in school, and graduates with a plan for pursuing post-secondary education or self-sufficiency.

  • Commit to mentor for 1 year
  • Spend at least 5 hours per month with student
  • Spend the first 6 months mentoring in a group setting
  • Serve as a positive role model to the child, showing him/her what the life of a follower of Jesus looks like

  • Submit an application, proof of auto insurance (if applicable), and tuberculosis tests results from the past 6 months (a TB test is required for all volunteers working with children)
