The Literacy Gap: Why does it exist? – At the Little Lights Breakfast

April 25 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am

1 in 4 black students in our nation’s capital met expectations in English in the 2017-2018 school year. (The Washington Post)

Join us for our annual Little Lights Breakfast as we delve into the question “Why does the literacy gap exist?” while also exploring a core part of Little Lights mission: bringing high-quality academic programs to our city’s under-resourced students.

Over a free hot breakfast, catered by B.Lin Catering, you will hear from a panel of community members and thought leaders as they discuss the experiences they have personally faced in an unequal educational system — and some of the creative solutions Little Lights brings to the table.

Whether you are familiar with Little Lights or brand-new to our work, this morning will offer new perspective and insight on the experience of children and families living right here in our Capitol Hill neighborhood.

To close out the morning we will offer you the opportunity to either begin or deepen your involvement with the work of Little Lights as a volunteer or a financial partner.
