Recently Little Lights was honored to receive a $220,000 grant for multi-year support from the Agnes Chapman Legacy Grant, which is distributed through the Community Foundation.
Ms. Agnes Chapman worked in the Department of Veterans Affairs and was a longtime resident of Washington, DC. When she passed away in 2011, at the age of 98, she left in her will over $1 million to provide social services and educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth and children in the city.
Through her generous gift, seven organizations (including Little Lights) were given various amounts for multi-year support, and Little Lights had the special distinction of being awarded the highest grant amount.
We are incredibly grateful for this gift, which will provide funds for general operating costs as well as a reserve fund. It is such an honor to be selected.
